Benji Player Q1: What is Benji?

A1: Benji is the name we’ve given to the Warner e-Network Jukebox Interactive Player that allows audio streaming of songs from our catalogs, as well as offering you ideas about new songs and artists that we’ve recently signed. The Benji playlist enables you to listen to songs on-line and to create single or multiple playlists, according to your preference.

  Q2: What is a Playlists?
A2:   A Benji Playlist is an option you can choose that allows you to create your own grouping of songs for a project. Not only can you decide on groupings by genre of songs, but, when you feel confident that you have the selections you need, Playlist can also initiate a license request to use any number of songs for your project. [Note: Downloading of .wav and ..wma formats may require special permission from some sites.]

Q3: Do you need a special plug-in to use Benji?

Licensing Q4: What are the major considerations for licensing a song?

A4: The four major terms of a license are: 1. In what type of Media will the song be used? (Media Type) 2. In the case of an ad campaign, for example, how long will the song be used in the campaign? (Term) 3. How will the song be used in the context of the project? (Nature of Use) 4. Where will the project be released and/or distributed? (Territory)

Q5:  What if I want to license a song and I live in another country?

A5:  Song Search will provide you with the information you need to determine whether or not the song is avialable in your teritory and will automatically route your queries to the copyright owner or administrator who controls the song and can negotiate the use with you.

Q6: I've seen references to online e-mail. What is that?
A6: Often, the final decision about which song to use in a project is a collaborative effort and requires the involvement of a third party. Time may be a factor in making your choice. We understand how important that can be. With this in mind, we have created e-mail links in My Projects and Benji Player that enable you to send an audio file to anyone who needs to hear a song immediately in order to make that decision.

Projects Q14: What are Projects?

A14:  Projects or folders are a convenient way to manage the overall process of licensing music via the Internet. Projects are especially helpful for those who are in the business of licensing music for on-going multiple projects. Although each folder can represent a separate job, larger jobs such as full-length motion pictures can also be divided into smaller, more manageable sub-projects.

Q14: When selecting songs for a project, I prefer not to request a license until I’ve narrowed down my selection to just a couple of choices. How do I create a list without having to request a license?

A14:  The Benji playlist allows you to create a list of songs without going through the e-Licensing process. When you are ready to request a license, you can do so by clicking the "License Request" button next to each song title.

Songs Q15:  Why is it that if I type in the letter 'a' to search for a song I get no results?

A15:  In order to optimize the search function, it is necessary for all keywords to be a word of at least two characters. Queries using individual letters tend to return alphabetical lists of songs that are ultimately impractical as a list of viable choices.

Terms of Use Q16: Do I have to agree with the Terms of Use Agreement to continue using the Warner Special Products website.

A16:  Yes.

Links to the "Terms of Use" web page are posted throughout our website. The "Terms of Use" page clearly states the terms and conditions which apply to those who visit this site.
